Fried Quinoa porridge with Croatian Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil

18 Nov

Fried Quinoa? Yes it’s absolutely yummy! This is based on my Croatian dad’s recipe of fried oatmeal with sweet paprika. Try it, you will love it!

Selo oils produces this wonderful Croatian olive oil found at http://www.selooils.com. I have been creating recipes with the selo oil for a while now. Here is one of my recipes below.

How to make this:

Make the quinoa porridge according to package directions. Let cool then in a sauté pan place about 2 cups of the porridge in a sauté pan with about 2 tablespoons of avocado oil. Let this cook for about 20 minutes on low heat. Sprinkle Himalayan pink sea salt on top. Then when a crispy golden crust forms on the bottom them it’s ready! For the finale. Drizzle Croatian coldpressed extra-virgin olive oil on top. Serves 2

Knedlje from Croatia (plum filled)

2 Oct

Is this a dessert or a savoury delicacy? Well it’s up to you to decide! My mom’s friend, Zorica made these delectable delights yesterday at her home. She called me and asked me to come over to try a few. To my utter delight, I was blessed with delicious tasting Croatian morsels of knedlje!

These can be a dessert if you drizzle organic maple syrup all over them. Zorica liked putting organic cane crystals on top. She showed me a more savoury way of eating them too. She put a dollop of sour cream on top with the maple syrup which gave it a sweet and savoury taste.
